What’s the difference between this world and World of Darkness?
To the veterans, keep in mind that this setting is as different as Vampire: The Requiem is to Vampire: The Masquerade. Though to help you get into this new setting here’s a list of all the major differences.
- Vampires no longer have the beast, there is no frenzy. Instead they have the curse called Ambition and Sanity in place of humanity
- There are no 13 Clans, instead there are 6 brand new Clans with their own flaws, depth and culture.
- The Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarch do not exist, there is only one political community and it’s called The Undying Society and The Undying Society is controlled by the Clans.
- There is no prince, seneschal, sheriff or harpy. The city is led by a Council and status is controlled by Clan Revenant.
- A Vampire’s body works almost like a humans, they can have children, eat food, grow their hair etc. If its not described under Traits in our Vampire page then they simply works like a humans (Vampires don’t become piles of dust upon death etc.)
- Antediluvians and Methuselahs do not exist, Caine is a prophet of Clan Chupacabra but not the first Vampire.
- There is no Wyrm, Wyld and Weaver.
- Blood Bonds is more akin to faith and loyalty than love, yet it is still equally feared.
- Age does equal any form of social standing. Your place within your Clan, your Status within the Society and the power you actually wield determines your social standing. Characters with advanced age that simply happened to have a high position because they managed to live long and secure such a position.
- Hunters exist but do not hunt the supernatural as much as they protect the Masquerade. Werewolves are a myth and Mages are almost extinct.
