Larp Culture

At this larp we want to promote a specific Larp Culture.

This is to say how we think about and approach this Larp experience.

Play the Character and the Story

We encourage players to play both the Character and the Story. This means that we would like players to act as their Character would have acted, but in rare cases it can create drama that doesn’t fit the Story.

That’s why we provide tools such as Calibration where people can Calibrate their drama in order to preserve both the fun of the story and the integrity of their Character.

Do not blame other players for their Character’s decisions

Characters are approved by the Storyteller and represented by a player. That means that as a player you shouldn’t blame other players for their Characters actions and decisions.

If you have frustrations or worries about a situation or certain behavior we advise that you talk with the Storyteller or a Safety Guide.

Make a realistic Character

Too many times have we seen the parody Character at a Vampire Larp, this 2 dimensional Character with no apparent depth. At this larp your Character is still essentially human, though with loyalties, ambition and need for blood.

We want you to make that realistic Character that lives and breathes this world, don’t be afraid to immerse yourself into the setting.

Play with people you don’t know

Most of us have already played a larp before where we were on the same team as our friends. We encourage you to play with new people as Ingame allies, then you can make your Offgame friends as your Ingame enemies instead.

Hopefully this will create a dynamic where we get closer to one another as players while still having reliable fun with those we already know.

How we talk about Ingame

On one side many of us have heard of the dreaded metagaming or perhaps fear spoiling exciting plot lines. On the other hand you might not know what’s going on in the game or you want to share your exciting experience with other people.

Therefore we need some guidelines to how we talk about Ingame when we’re Offgame.

  • If someone asks if a scene can be a secret offgame, then it should be respected by all participants.
  • Do not spoil your own Secrets. Even though they are your Character’s Secrets, you don’t know if someone is investigating you.

Honest and Open Discussions

At this Larp we want people to be able to criticize and discuss the game that they play, we want the hottakes and the constructive feedback, not hidden away unaddressed and slowly becoming a problem. Of course it’s fine to talk amongst your friends to figure out what the hell is happening.

But if you have a sincere opinion or problem about the larp we suggest you bring it forth instead of holding it back, this larp is afterall a project in development. Keep the tone civil, remember that whomever you are addressing is human and mistakes do happen.

Titles and Delegation

This larp has many Characters with many responsibilities, they often come through titles. Many times a title might become more responsible than need be, whether it’s a Clan Leader or a Councilor.

This is why it’s important to embrace delegating responsibilities to someone else. We also strongly discourage handling too many high ranking Titles with a ton of responsibilities, let other players partake in the fun.
