A Magical Mishap

Amongst the many interesting conversations taking place, one is being held in a high rise building overviewing the busy streets of New York.

A sharp beep followed by a professional tone permeates the room. “Mr. Devin is here to see you.” a short hesitant reply comes back through the intercom. “Let him in.”

The door is opened by a security guard and through it a man in his mid thirties, wearing a common suit, walks in with both purpose and discipline. He enters a grand office, which for some would have been an apartment, and as the door closes behind him he is greeted by the friendly face of a middle aged American man. “What can I do for the esteemed Premiere Lieutenant Nikita Devin of the I.R.A.F?” The lieutenant stands shocked and is almost about to utter a response when his host continues. “Don’t you worry, I have the windows tinted and this place sweeped twice a day, no need to use aliases here.” The Lieutenant tugs at his blazer as if pulling down on his uniform. “Very well, Chief Executive Officer Michael Campbell… I have come to talk to you about-” Michael raises his hand interrupting the Lieutenant “Please sit down, do you want anything to drink?” The Lieutenant shakes his head and Michael goes over to a bar cabinet. “I’m sorry to hear what happened to the Major, you know we used to go golfing, he wasn’t very good, but he got the yelling at balls down to a T.”

Michael looks over at a rather unresponsive soldier “You know as well as I do that we are in a dangerous business, he knew what he was getting into” As Michael finishes his sentence he places a can of Pepsi on the Lieutenants side of the table.

The Lieutenant looks and sighs as he opens the soda.“I didn’t come here to discuss the demise of Major Abramov, I came to discuss the escalation of the Ghuls and how it affects all of us who live in this city.” Michaels face lightens up as if he dodged a diplomatic bullet. “Look, we drew the short straw, the Nephilim are here, that means tensions are doomed to rise.” Michael turns in his chair and looks out the window. “But I grant you, I didn’t expect the mages, of all people, would stoop so low as to start something now. I guess you can say it was just a magical mishap.”

In the Sideplot: Nephilim Vs. Ghul.
The Current Escalation of Clan Ghul has been raised to “Occult Misconduct.”
This Escalation was later lowered.
