Dark Arts

It takes a grim individual to become a ghoul through the harvesting of vampires, and this is magic created from such a person. Its magic controls the essence of death to coerce dark deeds and dreadful mishaps. Users of Dark Arts are known as Necromancers. Belonging to Clan Ghul.

Danse Macabre

By cutting off one of your own fingers or a sizable portion of flesh and then consuming it during a Dark Arts Ritual you can ignore any Component costs of that Ritual.

This will cause you to lose 1 Sanity.

It takes 3 Blood Points to regenerate the damage.

Level 1

Curse of Years
“Oh i can give you back some semblance of life.”
Type: Curse.
Cost: Trivial Component.
Effect: Choose a Character, decrease their Prowess by one Step.

This Curse lasts for one hour.
Haunting
The souls of the long passed can still be quite useful.
Type: Curse.
Cost: Name of a Blood Servant or human Connection, Trivial Component.
Effect: Choose a Blood Servant or human Connection you know the exact name of, you always know the Intrigues it does from now on.
You can have Haunting active on up to 9 different Blood Servants or human Connections.

This Curse lasts until Dispelled.

Protection of the Damned
Spirits can be guided and controlled into protecting the living.    
Type: Blessing.
Cost: Name of a Blood Servant or human Connection, Trivial Component.
Effect: Choose a Blood Servant or human Connection you know the exact name of, if an Intrigue would target it, it fails.
You can only have up to 3 Protection of the Damned active at the same time.

This Curse lasts until the start of the next Session.

Level 2

Revenge from the Grave
Spirits are mere vestiges of what once was, but one can force a spirit to stay for just a moment longer as a deterrence.
Type: Curse.
Cost: Name of a Blood Servant or human Connection, Trivial Components.
Effect:  Choose a Blood Servant or human Connection you know the exact name of, if the Blood Servant is ever killed it will rise as a zombie and hunt down its murderer succesfully. If the murderer is a Blood Servant it dies, if the murderer is a Vampire/Ghoul they will not gain Blood Points during the next Checkin.
This will breach the Masquerade of the murderers Clan.
You can only have Revenge from the Grave active up to 9 times.

This Curse lasts until the Blood Servant or human Connection would die.

Speak with the dead 
One can manipulate more than the spirit, the body left behind still has things to answer for.        
Type: Incantation.
Cost: A corpse, Trivial Components.
Effect: If you touch a corpse that hasn’t been affected by this Ritual before, it awakens to answer a single Yes or No question truthfully. The corpse then rests again. The corpse can only answer questions it would have known the answers to in real life.

Level 3

Ghoul Touch  
We can raise the dead but we can also put them back in the ground.    
Type: Blessing.
Cost: Uncommon Components.
Effect: At the end of your next Conflict, choose a Character that you fought against, they lose all of their Blood Points.
This Blessing lasts until you’ve been in a Conflict or the end of the evening.

Dark Guardian
I have friends on the other side.
Type: Blessing.
Cost: Uncommon Components.
Effect: A Blood Servant or human Connection affected by your Possession dies. You bind their soul to your permanent protection. You are immune to the effects of Intrigues (Kidnap, Investigate, Rumour, Steal Component).

This Blessing lasts until Dispelled.

Possession
Did you really think we can only manipulate souls once they have no body?
Type: Curse.
Cost: Uncommon Components.
Effect: A Blood Servant or human Connection affected by Haunting is dispelled of that Ritual, and instead becomes possessed. You can choose to Own or Capture the Blood Servant any time you want and you always know the Intrigues it has done since last Session.
You can cast Possession once per Session and can have up to 9 Possessions active at a time.

This Curse lasts until Dispelled.

Level 4

Lichedom
The afterlife lay claim to a soul, they didn’t specify which soul.
Type: Curse.
Cost: Rare Components, your own Connection.
Effect: This Ritual turns your Connection into a vessel that if you were to die, the vessel will perish instead and you will be Resurrected at a place and time of your own volition. Casting this Ritual makes you lose that Connection as you have effectively doomed your Connection to die.

This Blessing lasts until the vessel has died.

Shadow Confidant
Someone to sort out my library.
Type: Curse.
Cost: Rare Components.
Effect: A Blood Servant or human Connection affected by your Possession dies. You bind their soul to your permanent service. Gain a special Ghost that acts as Blood Servant and can use every Intrigue. The Ghost cannot die and everytime it uses an Intrigue there’s a Tiny chance of breaching the Masquerade. The Ghost does not count against your maximum number of Blood Servants you can have.

This Curse lasts until Dispelled.

Level 5

Return from Beyond
Rage against the dying of the light? Pathetic.
Type: Incantation.
Cost: Mythical Components, a Character.
Effect: Through a complicated Ritual taking at least 5 minutes, you sacrifice a Character to bring back to life another Character.
Though the Character returns changed somehow and gains the Flaw: From Hell.

You can never bring back a Character by sacrificing the same player. It also requires the consent of the one being resurrected as they are now being brought back to play an old Character. Without this consent the Ritual simply fails, the Costs are refunded.
