Help & Safety

At this Larp you might find that your expectations are not met, some person makes you uncomfortable or you’re emotionally wrought by a scene or event.

So below we have some tools you can use to help you navigate certain situations.

Offgame
If you need to go out of Character you put one hand on your head and that means you go Offgame. This is important when walking from place to place without being in Character. If you need to relay Offgame information in the Ingame area, try to do it discreetly and start by saying Offgame following the information.
Fade to Black
Sometimes a scene might be too difficult to play for various reasons. To solve this problem you might want to use Fade to Black. If everyone in the scene is willing to Fade to Black then instead of playing the scene as normal, everyone steps aside to an offgame/discreet location and discusses what the Character does in the scene instead.
Calibration
When having a relations between Characters sometimes the players need to adjust that relation Offgame. This is called Calibration and it’s a simple tool to help you make sure that the drama between the Characters is what both players want.
Calibration is a conversion about where both players want the relation and/or drama to be at or head towards. It’s a talk based on wishes and hopefully you can accommodate the other person without making your own Character unplayable.
Drama Escalation
When talking about Calibration it’s nice to have a clear and concise idea of where both players want their Characters relation to be.
So here we provide some steps to show possible levels of drama between Characters.
Step 6 – Nemesis. It’s you or me, one of us has to go. Killing someone is the only way.
Step 5 – Revenge. You hurt me and now I must hurt you. Killing someone is on the table, but you could hurt them in so many other ways.
Step 4 – Rivalry. I’m going to beat you because I’m better than you. Killing someone at this stage is not impossible, but usually when you have already lost as a rival.
Step 3 – Nothing Personal. A power grab or wrongdoing, but nothing personal. Killing someone at this stage has to be the last resort.
Step 2 – Accident. An incident that is interpreted as an accident. Killing someone at this stage is so illogical, it defies the setting.
Step 1 – No Drama.
Safety Guides
We have Safety Guides, they are people who can help you deal with the emotional stress that might occur from the Larp.
They will provide you with a room where you can relax, get a snack and talk about what happened if that’s what you need.
The most important fact is that Safety Guides are neither your therapists or police officer.
We have a principle that we would like to solve problems before they escalate into a real life issue, because once a problem becomes too big it’s in the hands of the professionals, something we have to respect for our own safety and yours.
